This book, easy to read and understand, is only 36 pages long, but that’s plenty for explaining the seven tricks that Tyler wants to give his readers. Several of the tricks are commonplace—after all, most of us know that repetition helps you remember things better—but others are not so obvious. In particular, the spelling it out, memory palace, and fictionalization tricks are ones I never would have thought of. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of the “memory palace” before this book, and it’s certainly I concept I want to explore further.The conversational tone Tyler uses makes a somewhat dry subject interesting and a quick read even quicker. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you should just read this book once and be done with it. You should refer to it often as you explore each trick and figure out which one works best for you. You’ll want to keep this book by your side so that, when you find you’re having a hard time remembering names, you’ll have these techniques at your fingertips.One of the best things about this book is that there’s a tip for pretty much every kind of learner, especially visual learners. There are even tricks for what I call “imaginative learners,” people who are like visual learners but learn best when it’s in their imagination, like in the memory palace and fictionalization.The other best part of this book is the fact that these don’t just have to be tricks for remembering names. Tyler explains that these sorts of tricks can be used to forge a better memory of pretty much anything. The best trick, the real heart of this book, turns out to be understanding how your brain decides which memories are important enough to keep and then using that knowledge to tell your brain what you actually want to remember, not just what it thinks you need to remember.All in all, this book is fascinating and I highly recommend it. And I had been trying to remember their name and I heard someone call this person (the apple person) by their name (it was Ashley) and I'm like, "AHA! Apple Ashley." And that's one of the tips this book suggests. They tell you in the book how to use alliteration to remember names.And there are so many more tips that will be suitable for any kind person. It's an easy read too and very well written. It also has occasional cute drawings in the book as well, which is always fun to me. The author knows what they are talking about and when you use the tips in the book, I know you will see immediate success.

Well, a few pages in, I was actually hooked on the writing style, so I not only enjoyed reading, but I learned a few things, as well.I don’t want to give too much away, but not only was the book a very interesting read on a topic that I think most people could actually benefit from, but the writing style in the book was light and kind of fun, making this less than a solely informational text and more of something I actually wanted to read.At first, the whole thing about building a “memory palace” seemed kind of strange, but I found that by using some of the techniques in the book, I was actually able to achieve that and store vital information that I might have otherwise just tossed out, not thinking much of it.I bet some of the techniques in this book could be used for more than just the names of people, too – I bet it would work awesomely for pets, books, TV shows…pretty much anything if you set your mind to it.
